Our special Epicurean Wine tours are for wine hobbyists and connoisseurs, who will be tantalized by Croatian wines. We travel across continental Croatia, on to Istria and the southern islands of Dalmatia, tasting and meeting the vintners at the best boutique, traditional and organic wine makers. You’ll try Croatian varietals at their best in vertical and horizontal tastings and paired with local cuisine.
We’ll introduce Grasevina, Marastina, Bogdanusa, Plavac Mali, Posip, Dingac, Vugava, Malvazija & Traminac varietals. And of course you’ll try the fabulous Prosek (Croatia’s Vin Santo), Grappas and pervasive Rakijas.
We start our journey in Zagreb the night before your tour, where you’ll be greeted with a champagne supper at the Palace Hotel, a charming boutique hotel in the grand European tradition.
Day 1: Visit 2 wineries in the continental Plesivica/Slavonia region, home to 2 of our favorites, Krauthaker and Tomac wines. After our tours, we’ll travel by private transfer to Istria, where you’ll stay in one of our selection of boutique hotels.
Day 2-3: Follow the wine road of Istria (the Tuscany of Croatia). We’ll try selected wines from the over 120 Istrian wineries, the rich Istrian cuisine and the famous trouffles. You’ll try indigenous Malvazia and Teran varietals.

You’ll learn about the unique soil management strategy used to produce excellent Plavac Mali on this rocky island. We’ll have the chance to pair Plavac Mali varietals with a meal of fresh local cuisine prepared for us by one of the innovators of the new Dalmatian cuisine, Magdalena Senjkovic. Overnight in Milna Harbor.
Day 6/7: Sail to Jelsa on Hvar island, where we’ll visit 3 diverse wineries, meeting master vintner Andro Tomic and innovative garage wine maker Ivo Dubokovic. We’ll visit the vineyards sloping down to the sea, where Ivo tells us the grapes are blessed 3 times by the sun – from the sky, the reflection off the sea and the white of the rocky soil. After the vineyard and cellar visits, we’ll enjoy a local meal at one of the boutique restaurants in Jelsa. On selected tours we’ll invite the winery owner/master vintner to join us for a pairing dinner with local gourmet chef.
